The state has two major universities: Niger State University and Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University.

Niger State University was founded in 2002. It has over 20,000 students across four campuses in Minna, Kontagora, Bida and Lapai. 1. Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) FUTMINNA's cutoff mark for 2024 is 180. Candidates who score 180 and above in JAMB are eligible to apply for admission into FUTMINNA. The school also considers candidates’ O'level results and performance in their screening exercise.

2. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) IBBUL's JAMB cutoff mark for the 2024 admission year is 170. If you score 170 or above, you can apply for admission into any of the courses offered in IBBUL. In addition to the JAMB score, the university will also consider your O'level grades and performance in their post-UTME screening.

3. Niger State College of Education, Minna (COE Minna) The JAMB cutoff mark for COE Minna is 150. Candidates who score 150 and above in JAMB can apply for admission into the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes offered in the college. In addition to meeting the cutoff mark, candidates must have at least 5 O'level credits in relevant subjects to the course of study.

4. Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru (NIGERPOLY) The JAMB cutoff mark for 2024 admission into NIGERPOLY is 120. Candidates who score 120 and above in JAMB can apply for admission into the National Diploma (ND) programmes offered in the polytechnic. In addition to the JAMB score, candidates must have at least 5 O'level credits in relevant subjects which must include English Language and Mathematics.

  • Meet the minimum cutoff mark for your course of study. The cutoff marks vary each year depending on the number of applicants. For the 2024 admission year, expect the cutoff mark for most courses to be around 180 to 200 out of a possible 400 in the UTME. Some competitive courses may be higher.
